The exciting world of Blogging

sd.keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk

Hey Sweeeerables. I hope everyone is well. Pheeew it has been a very hectic week hey, with tests, assignments and everything else in between. I really cant wait for the year to end. I have really had it hey.

I only started blogging a week ago, and OH MY WORD - I am super hooked. I must say that I really enjoy blogging and I think it is a really interesting and dynamic social platform to participate in and be a part of. I have learned so much and I am excited to share my personal top five tips for public relations student bloggers.

The first thing that I learnt about blogging is that you really need to pay attention to your grammar and spelling . As much as blogging can be informal and a platform where you can express your view and opinions, it is also a reflection of the type of person that you are. PR is all about writing so you must ensure that it is on point.

The second thing that I learned is that it is important to cite and source any information that is not originally yours. This includes pictures, audio, videos etc. The last thing you want is to be sued for plagiarism by someone halfway through the world that you do not even know and have your name discredited before you even start your career.

Thirdly, I learned that it is essential that you reply to other people's comments on your blog. This will help you in building a relationship with your audience and also confirming to them that you are not a robot.

Blogging can really help you build your profile as a public relation student, and that is the fourth thing that I have learned. Blogging is a great platform for you to showcase your writing skills as a student and can also work to your advantage with your future employers.

Most importantly, blogging is FUN, FUN, FUN. When you enjoy it, you are sure to come up and compose the best interesting and informative posts. So get creative and get blogging sweeerables :)

Okay! Let's get on with it. Well today I am going to give you the 5 tips for public relations students as future professionals. As a public relations students I think that every single one of us need to know these tips particularly with regards to your future employers. Many students tend to take this for granted but the truth is that most employers (especially in our industry) look into your digital footprint before they call you in for an interview. What you post on the internet is like your interview before the interview because that is where you actually present the authentic you. And if you think you will delete all the swear words you tweeted, for example, just remember that it might be deleted on your twitter profile but it will always be there on the internet, somewhere, somehow. So my advice to you guys is to be careful about you post online because what you post on the internet stays there  forever......let me not keep you in suspense any longer.

My top five tips for PR students as future professionals

TIP 1: Do not bad mouth your University or college that you are studying at (remember that is also a brand that you are representing).

TIP2: Never post pictures of yourself with alcohol (it sends out a bad message/impression to your future employers).

TIP3: The worst thing to do is post half-naked pictures of yourself (employers want to hire dignified and respected people in their companies).

TIP4: Say things that you would actually be able to say in real life.

TIP5: Comment and respond on other people’s blogs, statuses, posts etc in a humble and respectful manner.
